Description

Antibacterial

Oral Solution

Indications:

Tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic macrolide with antimycoplasmal and antibacterial activity, with the highest concentrations found in lung tissue; it is effective in the control and treatment of respiratory diseases in poultry and swine.

The antibacterial mechanism involves interfering with bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly binding to the peptidyltransferase enzyme in the 50S ribosomal subunit, disrupting bacterial growth. The action primarily targets rapidly dividing bacteria and mycoplasmas.

Macrolides are characterized as bacteriostatic but can have a bactericidal function, depending on the concentration in the affected tissue, the bacterial growth phase, and the exposure time.

Warnings:

Do not administer to egg-producing poultry intended for human consumption.

The main causes of antibacterial resistance are underdosing or overdosing.

Do not use the product after the expiration date.

There may be an antagonistic effect if a macrolide is administered simultaneously with chloramphenicol.

Its use is not approved in lactating cows, sheep, and goats.

Do not administer to horses; it can cause death, as tilmicosin causes cardiac toxicity.

The safe use of tilmicosin in pregnant females or breeders has not been demonstrated.

The product should be administered exclusively orally.

Once the solution is prepared, administer it immediately and do not store any leftovers.

Avoid contact with the eyes.

Recommendations:

It is recommended to check the water pH, as it can affect the solubility of the active ingredient, bioavailability, and stability.

Cleaning of pipes, drinkers, and other equipment is essential for treatment efficacy.

Do not use rusty containers for medicated water, as it can affect the product’s integrity. It is a matter of responsibility to administer antibacterials at therapeutic doses to achieve optimal plasma and tissue concentrations.

Keep out of the reach of children and domestic animals.

Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, protected from light.

Prescription required.
